At One Challenge, we love to uplift the voice of our third culture kids (TCKs). There are a lot of challenges that come with growing up in missions overseas, but there are also some unique opportunities. Below is an account of one of those opportunities.

Hey, everyone!! God has been so good! I recently got the totally unexpected opportunity to travel to the U.K. to attend a leadership retreat for an evangelical, student-led organization called HowToLife Movement. HowToLife is a global youth movement of students “by Gen Z, for Gen Z” to reach, disciple, and mobilize Gen Z for Jesus.

In December 2022, a few of us met the HowToLife leader traveling through our region and were invited to attend HowToLife’s International Leadership Retreat. Through God’s miraculous provision, I was able to travel with my friend, Noella, to the U.K. where we experienced so much of His presence, love, provision, and community. Being among other Gen Z people from eight different nations on fire for God and for sharing the gospel to our generation really was a blessing and showed me the importance of being bold in sharing the gospel right where I am in Southeast Asia.

In April, I will be helping to lead worship at a HowToLife event in Singapore. PLEASE PRAY for God’s guidance as it’s my first time to be the “main” worship leader. Also, PLEASE PRAY that God will really move in this event to ignite the hearts of the young people in Singapore. Then later this year, I will be helping to lead a HowToLife event here on our island. PLEASE PRAY for God’s guidance in planning, raising up a ministry team, and open doors into the local community.

My heart really breaks for my generation (Gen Z) as so many of them don’t know Jesus, including many of my peers! But God has definitely given me hope and shown me through HowToLife, the Asbury Revival, and evidence of spiritual hunger and renewal all over the world among young people that God is definitely going to communicate His message through Gen Z! Pray with One Challenge

• Pray for Kathryn and her walk with the Lord; that she will grow in leadership and have more opportunities to share the love of Christ with others.
• Pray for all our OC TCKs who may be in different stages in their lives. Pray they would know that Jesus loves them deeply.
• Pray for our families. Pray for healthy, resilient families who love the Lord and love one another.
• Pray for those who care for kids in our organization. Pray they will have wisdom, compassion, and insight as they serve our kids and families.
