An African proverb says, “If you want to walk fast, walk alone. If you want to walk far, walk with others.” Lifeworkx is a process of discovering one’s self, but it cannot be done without community and connection.
Joshua, Lifeworkx Director, and Thuy, Global Director-Sports Leadership, partnered alongside Pastor Timuntu in Uganda to train 45 leaders as Lifeworkx trainers. Through the training, not only do participants discover their own story, design, strengths, and destiny, they are equipped with the tools to help others on this journey as well.
Impactful Moments
One of the most impactful moments of the event was training alongside four Master Trainers from Uganda. “It was deeply encouraging to see them share about Lifeworkx from their hearts,” Joshua says. “In the ‘downtime,’ we were able to hear their passions and concerns for continuing Lifeworkx in Uganda. It was evident how much they care for Lifeworkx and see its impact in so many lives.”
For this training, the team mixed learning and stories with some active fun. As Thuy uses sports to connect and impact others, many sessions were broken up with activities. Some games focused on communication, while others tested Bible knowledge, and still others challenged limits of frustration. Participants were able to reflect on the games and see how each other’s personalities came to the surface.
The training culminated in a grand celebration of achievement. “It was a joy to hand out certificates and celebrate each person who was there,” Joshua says.
