Christmas is a time of hope. Mary and Joseph eagerly awaited the arrival of their child. Not just because He was to bring joy to their family, but on His shoulders the hope of the whole world would rest. As Mary sang her praises to the Lord in Luke 1, she gives glory to the Lord for his mercy, blessing, and the things he has done. Her song speaks not only of the hope for a nation but hope for generations to come.
As we enter into the advent season and the anticipation of the celebration of the coming of the Lamb, we know many are still suffering and grieving from this turbulent year. Everything will look different. Carols sung through masks, online Christmas gatherings, fewer presents under the tree, “air hugs” from six feet away. Despite the difference, the coming of Christ remains the same.

He is our constant. He does not fade. He is our sacrificial Lamb, who started as a baby wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.
So this Christmas season, focus on the coming of the Lamb. His promises remain true and constant. Whether together or apart, know that Jesus, in his infinite mercy and grace, wraps you in his arms.

Mary Had The Little Lamb
by Marv and Marbeth Rosenthal
Mary had the little Lamb,
Micah 5:2
Who lived before His birth;
Self-existent Son of God
From heaven He came to earth.
Mary had the little Lamb;
Isaiah 7:14
See Him in yonder stall –
Virgin-born Son of God,
To save man from the Fall.

Mary had the little Lamb,
John 6:38
Obedient Son of God,
Everywhere the Father led,
His feet were sure to trod.
Mary had the little Lamb,
I Peter 1:18
Crucified on the tree;
The rejected Son of God,
He died to set men free.

Mary had the little Lamb,
Matthew 28:6
Men placed Him in the grave
Thinking they were done with Him;
To death He was no slave!
Mary had the little Lamb,
Hebrews 4:14-16
Ascended now is He;
All work on earth is ended,
Our Advocate to be.

Mary had the little Lamb –
Revelation 5:5,6
Mystery to behold!
From the Lamb of Calvary
A Lion will unfold.
When the Day Star comes again,
Psalm 2:12, Rev. 19:11-16
Of this be very sure;
It won’t be Lamb-like silence,
But with the Lion’s roar.

So this Christmas season, focus on the coming of the Lamb. His promises remain true and constant. Whether together or apart, know that Jesus, in his infinite mercy and grace, wraps you in his arms.
