Care for people who are in ministry is a vital ministry in itself. If mission workers are not cared for physically, emotionally, and spiritually the effect of their ministry suffers. One Challenge worker Tammy serves in the area of mission worker care in Europe so the ministry of workers in the region can thrive. Rest and Revival in Europe is important!

In fall of 2019, Tammy offered spiritual direction and formation activities at a soul-care retreat for young European women in Christian leadership called “Renovo.” Eighteen women from 11 different countries in Europe came together to experience God and be refreshed.

“In a continent where less than 2.5 percent of the population knows Jesus as their Lord and Savior, life in ministry can be extremely isolating and is often discouraging,” Tammy says. “These young leaders need encouragement and affirmation as they grow in their relationship with God.”

Through their time together, the women experienced rest in quiet solitude, activities designed for rest, and intentional times to listen to the Holy Spirit. “We went on walks/hikes in the woods, experienced physical exercise as a prayer activity, celebrated God together with spirit-filled worship times, and listened to God’s voice together through Scripture and teaching sessions,” Tammy says. “Personally, it was a great encouragement for me to be surrounded by a group of young women who are so faithfully serving God and bringing hope to Europe!”

Looking Ahead

These young women are the future of ministry throughout Europe. Great things are yet to come. Tammy says she is honored to help serve them as a spiritual director. “Since Renovo, we have set up monthly small group calls for spiritual direction and support. Several of the women are using some of the prayer activities they learned at Renovo with their ministry groups at home,” Tammy says. “God is bringing a spiritual revival to Europe through a new generation of leaders! I’m am so excited to know them and to be the vessels God uses to fill them with his powerful strength and love!”

Pray with One Challenge

• Pray for a spiritual revival throughout Europe. Pray the Holy Spirit enlightens the hearts of many.

• Pray for Tammy and her husband Mihai who serve in many capacities in Europe, one critical area being that of mission worker care.

• Pray these 18 women who attended the retreat would continue to be refreshed anew and be vessels God will use to reach their communities and nations.
