One Challenge models its mission after Barnabas. It’s about partnership, servant hearts and coming alongside the local church to help facilitate healthy churches and leaders and promote the vision of the Christian community.
“One Challenge often comes alongside church planters encouraging them toward even greater fruitfulness,” says OC worker Dick. In each church planting movement there have been miracles and significant growth. “In one of our ministries, this has resulted in nearly 7,000 new believers since the first of the year,” he says.
Stories from tough places…
Here are a few of the stories of faith shared with OC by friends and ministry partners:
One relates: “I have been helping one of the men I have been discipling better understand the power of God in ministry. Shortly have discussing this with him, he found himself ministering to a man whose wife was experiencing complete kidney failure. In faith, he prayed for this woman with his hands outstretched. He felt a power like the wind pass through his hands towards her. He then ordered an evil spirit to leave this woman. On her subsequent visit to the doctor she learned that her kidney had returned to normal. This has greatly strengthened the man I was discipling in his faith.”
Another says: “A man strongly opposed to the gospel went on the local radio station complaining about the ‘Christianizing’ going on in a medical clinic we were sponsoring. That night he dreamed about me. The next day, I was led by the Lord to visit the man who had just been complaining on the radio in his home. Because of the dream, this enemy of the gospel felt compelled to listen to what I was sharing. Three months later this man and his wife came to faith in Jesus. They had been so impacted by the gospel that they began to fund our ministry to another part of the country.”
Another shared: “My wife knew a woman with stomach cancer. She had visited seven witchdoctors seeking healing. She had spent all her money to no avail. I invited her to pray with me in the name of Jesus. After burning all her obviously useless amulets and praying in the name of Jesus, her stomach returned to normal. Through this woman’s testimony, nine house churches have been started.
“During the fasting month, we encouraged all the believers to pray for miracles. A demon possessed woman came to me seeking help. When I prayed for her, she began saying over and over again, ‘ 1 Corinthians 2:12 & 16.’ This woman had never seen a Bible and had no idea what those words meant. She had never heard, ‘We have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things that are freely given to us by God. For who has known the mind of the Lord, so as to advise him? But we have the mind of Christ.’ But after reading the Scriptures with her, she came to faith in Christ and the demons were expelled. She began acting normal for the first time in a long time. Six of her neighbors put their faith in Christ through her testimony.”
“A general fighting one of the Muslim radical insurgencies was deeply moved when he heard the gospel preached. He asked one of our friends to come to the front lines and pray for the troops. Even though there are no Christians in this army, our friend’s ministry led to a request for Bibles, which could be distributed to all his officers. A few weeks ago hundreds of Bibles were distributed.”
Join us in praying for each of those mentioned in these stories of faith. Continue to pray for believers reaching the lost in difficult parts of the world.
